Dr Charles Sinkala share a panellist to discuss:
What impact will the Africa Continental Free Trade Area Agreement (AfCFTA) have on economies in Africa?
The AfCFTA Agreement was opened for signature on 21st March, 2018 in Kigali, Rwanda. To date, all 55 member states of the African Union have placed their signatures on the AfCFTA Agreement. AfCFTA is now viewed as Africa’s resolute use of the lever of continental economic integration to deliver prosperity in line with Africa’s Agenda 2063.
It will however take time before the African Continental Free Trade Area agreement is fully implemented. Certain aspects of how exactly it will work still need to be ironed out. We interrogate the framework of the AfCFTA and opportunities it will untap in terms of inter-country trade between African states. How should the Free Trade Agreement be implemented and what should the impact be for each region in the continent.
